The 27-year-old woman lost control of the car she was driving, which left the road and hit a tree on the drivers side.
TEWKSBURY, MA -- A 27-year-old woman from Wilmington was killed early Sunday morning in a single vehicle car crash on East Street near the intersection of Maple Street in Tewksbury. Police and fire personnel responded to a 3:45 am crash to find that Ryan Giroux had lost control of the 2006 silver Buick sedan she was driving. The vehicle left the road and hit a tree on the driver's side.
Giroux was dead on arrival. Giroux worked for Advanced Eye Care Associates in Lowell and had been a member of the Massachusetts National Guard since 2010.
Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan said the accident remains under investigation and that his department was working with the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section and the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
"This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with this young woman and her family.," Sheehan said.
